Description
In this holiday house you have the possibility to travel back in time. The house, built in 1827, was carefully renovated in 2021 and again in 2023, when the entire first floor is completely renovated in accordance with the very special soul in the house and the spirit of the past. Here you have the opportunity to stay and live in museum-like surroundings. Every room is decorated with furniture from the good old days, but you can sleep well on the new mattresses and have a bath in the lovely new bathroom.
Interior
In the sitting room you can play a game of cards or lose yourself in a good book by the wood burner. In the dining room you can enjoy the lunch by the settle, while you are watching the sea. There are three adjoining cosy bedrooms, one of them with two single beds (200x70cm), the other two with each their single bed (200x90cm). In the original kitchen, decorated with the Madam Blue equipment, you can really feel how it was to cook in the old days. You yourself have the possibility to use the modern cooker. The bathroom was built in 2021 and has floor heating and a shower. The beautiful Italian tiles are matching the style of the house. If you want to give your children or grandchildren an experience for life, this house is a unique possibility. Here there is no disturbing TV, but you do have WiFi.On the brand new 1st floor (2023) there is the opportunity to laze around, read the news or sleep in the new double bed.
Youth groups are not welcome. Open fire is not allowed, and smoking is not allowed, neither inside nor outside. Furthermore you are not allowed to use the wood burning cooker in the house. You may use a barbecue, but not closer than 30m from the house and not in windy weather.
Location / the area
In the original laid out garden from the 1930’es you can sense the very special atmosphere in the artist circles from that time. The house was previously lived in by the poet L.C. Nielsen, and it is not hard to see, where he got the inspiration to write the well-known Danish song The sea around Denmark. If you like angling, there are very good possibilities in the area, and the harbour offers the use of a smoke oven and a pizza oven. If you need help, or if your children want to feed the sheep grazing on the meadow behind the garden, you may be lucky to meet the owner. The house is adjacent to Oddenvej, so traffic noise cannot be avoided. Remember a trip to the charming harbor town on Sjællands Odde, where you can have a good lunch either at the restaurant Den Gyldne Hane or at the fisherman's tables/benches. Don't forget to also visit the sea hero's grave, the Sea Hero Square, Kastanielys (lifestyle shop), or the nearby vineyard (Ørnberg, which has been voted Denmark's best wine grower several times. the bench you can enjoy your coffee with you and see seals on lucky days, but the area certainly also invites you to go on a walking or cycling trip, where you can really get under the skin of Geopark Odsherred.
