In the heart of the peaceful, family-friendly area of Gjerrild Nord­s­trand, you’ll find a holiday home with a truly special story. The previous owner built the house himself – with love, crafts­mans­hip, and an eye for detail. Today, new owners continue that care, improving the home and looking forward to sharing it with you, so you can create your own holiday memories here.

You’re welcomed by a spacious utility room with plenty of space for prams, beach bags, and summer sandals. You’ll also find a washing machine here – practical when the holiday leaves traces of sand and adventure.

From the utility room, you step into the lovely kitchen, equipped with eve­ryt­hing you need to whip up meals for both big and small. And while you stir the pot, you can chat with those you love – the kitchen is open and naturally connected to the living room.

The living room is the heart of the house – where you gather for board games, good food, and cozy evenings by the wood-burning stove. There’s plenty of space in the sofa corner and around the dining table, and from here, you have direct access to the terrace and the lush garden.

There are three lovely bedrooms to choose from – two with double beds and one with a single bed and a bunk bed, which is sure to be a hit with the kids. The bathroom is bright and fun­ctio­nal, and there’s also a separate guest toilet.

Enjoy life outside

Step into the garden and feel peace and presence settle in. The garden is large, flat, and perfect for both re­laxa­tion and play – and you’ll quickly find your favorite spot, as the house is sur­ro­un­ded by several charming terraces and cozy corners that follow the sun throug­hout the day.

On one side of the house, you can enjoy your morning coffee to the sound of birdsong. Later in the day, head over to the inviting barbecue corner, where there’s plenty of space to grill fresh local produce and ve­ge­tab­les, seasoned with herbs plucked straight from the sunny raised beds.

If you love bonfires, look forward to the firepit area – a sheltered and cozy spot framed by natural fencing. It’s the perfect place for roasting bread on sticks, popping corn, sharing family stories, or snuggling under warm blankets beneath a starry sky. All around, beautiful trees offer shade and shelter, and a tall hedge along the road provides privacy so you can fully unwind in your own green oasis.

Children can run free on the lawn, squeal with delight on the swings, or dig to their heart’s content in the sandbox, while the grown-ups relax in the sun with a good book – or maybe even sneak in a nap in the shade of a tree.

Get up close to the local at­tra­ctions

Gjerrild Nord­s­trand is a true hidden gem – peaceful, charming, and ideal for families. The beach is just a short walk away, offering soft sand, dunes, and shallow, clear waters. It proudly flies the Blue Flag, so you can safely let the children splash and build sandcast­les for hours.

The nearby village of Gjerrild is small and cozy, with its own local grocer, inn, beautiful church, and the grand Sostrup Castle.

If you’re into birds and nature, don’t miss Gjerrild Klint – a well-known desti­na­tion for birdwat­chers from across Denmark. Anglers will also enjoy some of Djursland’s best coastal spots for sea trout fishing.

Explore the area on foot or by bike via the many scenic trails – including the North Sea Trail, which winds all the way from Udbyhøj by Randers Fjord to Grenaa.

And speaking of Grenaa – it’s just a 20-minute drive away. Here, you’ll find charming pe­de­stri­an streets, inviting cafés, and family-friendly at­tra­ctions like the fa­sci­nat­ing Kattegat Centre, home to sharks, penguins, and seals, and the inspiring Museum Østjylland, which brings the history of Djursland to life.

If you’re looking for thrills, Djurs Som­mer­land – the largest amusement park in the Nordic countries – is only a 30-minute drive away, offering fun and exci­te­ment for all ages. The region also boasts several beautiful castles and manors, such as Gl. Estrup, which offers hands-on ex­pe­ri­en­ces and engaging acti­vi­ties throug­hout the summer.
