Rural house perfect for exploring Samsø
House-ID: 20616Only 400 metres from Samsø’s east coast, this house accommodates up to 8 people. The house is an ideal base from which to head out and explore Samsø. It is situated in the heart of the island’s southern landscape, guaranteeing beautiful sunrises.
Welcome inside
The house is bright and functional and can accommodate up to 8 people. It is perfect for those who appreciate plenty of space and where four-legged family members are welcome. The house is not newly built, but has been continuously renovated and maintained.
You enter through a pleasant hallway with access to the large bathroom, which also has a washing machine and tumble dryer.
Continuing into the kitchen/dining area, you will find plenty of space for preparing all your meals.
There are windows and a patio door leading out to the garden, so when the weather allows, you can easily take your meals outside onto the terrace. In addition to the cosy wood-burning stove in the kitchen/dining area, the entire house has electric heating, and there is a heat pump in the living room.
The living room has south-facing windows and comfortable armchairs where you can sit close to the wood-burning stove. Alternatively, you can relax in the sofa corner, where there is a TV with a Chromecast. There are no TV channels, but you can choose what you would like to watch via your mobile phone or tablet using the house’s Wi-Fi.
Next to the kitchen is a bedroom with a comfortable double bed. From the kitchen, there is also access to a hallway leading to another toilet without a shower, as well as two bedrooms, each sleeping 2 people.
In the hallway, a spiral staircase leads up to the first floor, where you will find a lovely additional living and gathering space.
On the first floor, there is an additional bed with sleeping space for two people. Sit back and enjoy the view and the peace and quiet from the sofa, or gather around a game and enjoy many wonderful hours together.
Through the patio door, you can step out onto the east-facing balcony, where you have views across the fields and out towards the sea. Many ships sail through the Kattegat every day, and if you are an early riser, you must not miss the beautiful sunrise from here.
Enjoy life outdoors
The house is arranged so that guests may be staying in the other wing, which is currently being renovated. However, the house is well divided both indoors and outdoors, allowing you to enjoy your holiday without being disturbed.
From May to September, you may experience shooting at Samsø’s shooting range, approximately 100 metres from the house. However, this only takes place for a few hours once a week, when the shooting range is open for clay pigeon shooting. It is open to everyone if you would like to give it a try!
A hedge provides privacy towards the road, while on the other side of the house there is a secluded garden and terrace surrounded by trees. If you visit during the season, there are several fruit trees where you can pick and enjoy fresh fruit.
There is a small wind turbine on the neighbouring property. Samsø is a green island, and many houses have their own solar panels or wind turbines. Depending on the direction of the wind, you may be able to hear this wind turbine.
Experience the local attractions
The house is located in the southern part of Samsø, where the small villages are close to one another. During the season, the fields are full of a variety of crops such as potatoes, strawberries and pumpkins. Just 3 kilometres from the house is Ballen, a cosy and lively harbour town with many restaurants, shops and small live concerts during the summer. There is also a beautiful sandy beach with crystal-clear bathing water.
Close to the holiday home is also Samsø’s largest town, Tranebjerg, where you will find several shopping options, Samsø Museum and the tourist information centre. It is easy to cycle around and visit the charming villages, and just 4 kilometres from the house you can visit Brundby Rockhotel, where great concerts are held all year round.
In the southernmost part of Samsø lies the beautiful Brattingsborg Forest, and during the summer season you can visit Vesborg Lighthouse, which offers views towards Funen, Zealand and Jutland.
Heading north, you should not miss a walk through Nordby Bakker and a visit to the northernmost point of the island, Issehoved. Nordby is also a charming village with an iconic bell tower and village pond. There are several good places to eat here, many of which, like restaurants throughout the island, focus on locally sourced ingredients.
