Enjoy the surroundings

In the area around Kulhuse, there are several walking and cycling routes, including the Fjordlandsruten, which winds its way through the beautiful countryside. You can also take the Columbus ferry and explore Arresø, Denmark’s largest lake. There are walking routes around the lake, or you can head to Hundested, where there is a wide selection of restaurants and shops.
Get a taste of the local area by stopping off at the many farm shops and specialist shops found in North Zealand. Several restaurants also focus on local and organic produce. You’ll easily find plenty of delicacies to take back to your holiday home.
South of Kulhuse lies Jægerspris and Jægerspris Castle. In Nordskoven near Jægerspris stood Denmark’s three oldest oak trees: Storkeegen, Snoegen and Kongeegen. Only Kongeegen remains, and it is estimated to be between 1,500 and 2,000 years old. This makes it Northern Europe’s oldest oak tree.
