From the property in Handrup Bakker, you can let your gaze wander freely over the landscape and the sea and truly feel the calm settle in.
The terrace will quickly become a favorite spot where you can start the day with a cup of coffee in the morning sun and end it with long, cozy dinners while the sky and the sea change colors.
The property offers space for both play and relaxation, and you can find just the right spot to suit your mood—whether you want to enjoy the quiet with a good book or stay active with games and play.
The short distance to the beach makes it easy to take spontaneous trips to the water, where you can feel the sand between your toes, take a dip, or just enjoy the fresh sea air.
Get up close to local experiences
As a guest at Handrup Bakker, you’ll be staying in one of Djursland’s most scenic areas, where rolling hills, woodland and the coast blend seamlessly. There are plenty of opportunities here for walks and bike rides, with beautiful views along the way.
You’re just a short distance from Ebeltoft, which boasts charming cobbled streets, small specialist shops and a delightful harbour. Here you can also visit the frigate Jylland or the Glass Museum for exciting cultural experiences.
If you’re looking for family-friendly activities, Djurs Sommerland is within driving distance, and at the Kattegat Centre in Grenaa you can get up close to life beneath the sea.

Welcome to Stærevej 9
We hope that you will have a wonderful stay in our holiday home and that you will enjoy the place as much as we do. It is especially the view and the quiet atmosphere that make the house very special for us - combined with the simple, older, but cozy setting. We took over the house in April 2026 and have since been in the process of renovating it and making it even nicer to be in - both for ourselves and for our guests. We hope you will feel comfortable and enjoy your holiday. If you wish, you are very welcome to put the Dannebrog flag in the holder by the front door while you stay here - a cozy Danish holiday home tradition.
The higher you move up the garden of the house, the more beautiful the view becomes. One day, try to go out at the top of the garden and continue the approximately 100 meters up to the area's highest point, where there are benches. From here there is a fantastic view - especially at sunset. Here you can look towards Ebeltoft and the entire cove, and Samsø can be glimpsed in the distance in the middle of the view. When you turn around, the small, cozy Handrup Church is beautifully behind.
We can also recommend a short walk up Stærevej below the house. If you follow the small loop around Stærevej and Musvitvej, you get some of the area's most beautiful views along the way.
If you want to get to the beach, the fastest way is to follow Lundshøjvej all the way down to the water. Lundshøjvej meets Stærevej just below the house. The bathing jetty by the beach belongs to the landowners' association Klithøj, of which Stærevej 9 is a part, and you are therefore very welcome to use it.
If you fancy an ice cream or a little break on a walk, the nearest place is the ice cream parlor and café at Egsmark Strand: Brødrenes Madbar – Kystvejen 137
Another place we like very much is Ebeltoft Gårdbryggeri, where you can enjoy both a beer and the beautiful view.
Just a few minutes away is the trip to Jernhatten (search for "Parking Jernhatten"). Here you can take a really beautiful walk along the coast through hilly terrain with great views between the trees.
If you want to visit a small and quieter beach, we sometimes bring coffee and a thermos to Fuglsøvig Beach. It is about 10 kilometers from the holiday home, and you can park at: Fuglsøvig Strandvej 2
If you are into football golf, Ebeltoft Football Golf is within walking distance of the house – about 750 meters away.
