Odense

Colloquially, Odense is known as the capital of Funen. This metropolis on Funen is also known on the international map as the home town of H.C. Andersen. And the city also bear the mark of this. Around the townscape, you can find sculptures and adornments that in each their way pay homage to the popular writer.

The cobbled streets and alleys are home to an abundance of shops, eateries and cafés. A little outside the city centre, you can explore the fascinating wildlife at Odense Zoo and if culture is more your thing, you can visit the art museum, Brandts Klædefabrik, or stop by the Funen Village open-air museum.

In the middle of the Eastern Funen, you will find the small town of Marslev oozing genuine village bliss. The area is surrounded by luxuriant fields, small forests and open countryside. For example, you can visit the village church in the town dating back to the Middle Ages and known for its many architectural details. Tommerup

Tommerup is a lovely railway town located in the heart of Funen. Here you can enjoy the sight of green hillscapes – and you can even gambol on them yourself. The area is perfect for hiking and cycling trips where you can explore the scenic trails in the area leading to luxuriant forests and surroundings full of nature. The lovely railway town is not far from Odense city centre so you have all the attractions and cultural gems of the city within easy reach. Here you can visit H.C. Andersen’s childhood home, go on a shopping trip og treat yourself to a gastronomical experience.
