Langeland

Langeland is known for its expansive and child-friendly sandy beaches. Here you will find fine sand, shallow water and gentle waves so that the youngest holiday guests can safely play at the water’s edge under supervision. The island is crammed with historical attractions and green surroundings. For example, you can stop by the Langeland Fort and learn more about the history of the Cold War. You can also treat yourself to a nature experience out of the ordinary with a trip to Dovns Klint, located in the southern part of the island. Here you can enjoy the most beautiful views and if you are lucky, you can spot wild horses grazing in the countryside and small porpoises darting around in the water.

When you holiday in a summer cottage in North-western Funen, you will get a little of everything. Here you will find a number of charming beaches, surroundings full of nature and historic attractions. There is no denying that North-eastern Funen is known for its wonderful beaches with fine sand and shallow areas where you can safely let the youngest ones play at the water’s edge under supervision. It is also in these parts that you can experience the natural area of Fyns Hoved, located on the most northern tip of Hindsholm. From this point, you can enjoy the views of the Kattegat and the Great Belt. The area also features historical traces from the past including ancient burial mounds and stone structures. From North-eastern Funen, you have easy access to the largest city on Funen, Odense, where you can visit Hans Christian Andersen’s childhood home and explore his fairytale world.

Colloquially, Odense is known as the capital of Funen. This metropolis on Funen is also known on the international map as the home town of H.C. Andersen. And the city also bear the mark of this. Around the townscape, you can find sculptures and adornments that in each their way pay homage to the popular writer. The cobbled streets and alleys are home to an abundance of shops, eateries and cafés. A little outside the city centre, you can explore the fascinating wildlife at Odense Zoo and if culture is more your thing, you can visit the art museum, Brandts Klædefabrik, or stop by the Funen Village open-air museum.

Southern Funen

If you ask a native of Funen, Southern Funen is one of the most beautiful areas on Funen. One of the reasons is that it offers the most beautiful views of the South Funen Archipelago with several small islands sticking out on the horizon. Some of the islands are inhabited while others are not. You can reach the islands by ferry from Southern Funen. The nature here is really outstanding. Here you will find everything from luxuriant forests and open countryside to cliffed coasts and hidden beaches. This gives you ample opportunity for birdwatching, hiking and kayaking – so now it just up to you to decide on your first adventure.
