An authentic summer house with the sea at the end of the garden

Some houses set out first and foremost to impress. And then there are houses like this one, so assured in them­sel­ves and their history that they have no need to make a show of it. The summer house on Nordre Strandvej was ori­gi­nal­ly built in the 1930s, and its original summer-house ar­chi­tec­tu­re has been preserved with re­mar­kab­le con­si­sten­cy. There are no un­ne­ces­sary gestures here and no decora­tion for decora­tion’s sake. The interior is simple, yet stylish. Bamboo furniture, the built-in dining area and a small workspace in the living room sit naturally within the original character of the house. Even the beautiful shutters at the windows con­tri­bu­te to the whole. The result is a summer house with a par­ti­cu­lar sense of calm: re­strai­ned, practical and plea­sant­ly un­pre­ten­tious. A place where things have been allowed to remain simple, because sim­pli­ci­ty is quite simply enough.

Enjoy life outside
Even the arrival tells you something about the place. From the small driveway, you pass through a narrow opening in the clipped hedge, and within a few steps the world seems to change character. The large garden rests quietly around the house, simple and well kept without trying to be anything other than a proper old summer-house garden, with countless fruit trees, berry bushes and hidden little corners. There is room here for long days on the grass, morning coffee in the sun and a glass of cold white wine that somehow tastes a little better while the summer evening is still light. Roe deer visit regularly, but before long it feels less as though they are passing through your garden and more as though you are a guest in theirs. From the lower part of the garden, you can glimpse the water, and the coast is only around 140 metres from the house. The sea is not an excursion here. It is part of the place, the light and the rhythm of the day.

Get up close to the local at­tra­ctions
The house is situated in the quieter part of Tisvil­de­le­je, close to the boundary with Holløse, giving you a fine balance between peace and summer life. You can start the day by the water, follow the small roads through the summer-house area and later make your way towards Tisvil­de­le­je when you feel like having a little more life around you. Here you will find cafés, re­stau­rants, small shops and that par­ti­cu­lar at­mosp­he­re that emerges when an old seaside town truly comes alive for the summer. Tisvilde Hegn invites you to walk beneath tall trees and along quiet forest paths, while the coast offers one inviting place after another for a swim. But perhaps one of the best things about the location is that there is very little need to plan. A holiday day here can easily consist of the sea, the garden, a trip into town and home again before evening falls.
