Interior
This unique house at Hou beach offers a wonderful summerhouse holiday with plenty of space on the Eastcoast in Jutland close to most things. The house appears new and modern with lovely light from the large windows. Here is everything you need to have a wonderful holiday at Hou beach.
The first thing you meet when you enter the house is a small utility room, where there is a washing machine, dryer and good storage space. There is also an extra cot and children chair if needed, so this room is perfect for the family who needs a convenient entrance. From here you enter a lovely bright room where the dining table is located. This room has access to the garden via a double-glazed door, which provides a lovely light and the opportunity to go directly outside. By the dining table there is also a TV on the wall, so if looking out of the window doesn't catch your eye, entertainment is still guaranteed.
From the dining area there is direct access to the kitchen, which is also stylish and open plan. From the kitchen there is a glass door onto a tiled terrace, so you can easily take your morning coffee or meals outside from here. At the kitchen table, bar stools are placed on the opposite side, so you can join in the cooking or have a drink with the chef in the kitchen. All the necessary cooking facilities are provided, including a dishwasher, cooker, hob and coffee machine.
The living room/family room offers space for relaxation and a lovely light from the large windows at the end wall. There is a sofa corner and TV with Danish, Scandinavian and German channels. In addition, there is a Chromecast, so you can stream your own programs via your phone and the free Wi-Fi.
The glass-garden doors lead onto a tiled terrace, where there is good garden furniture surrounded by lovely greenery.
From the living room/kitchen area, there is access to two of the house's bedrooms, which entails two double beds. The rooms have good cupboard space, are bright and have direct access to the garden. Next to the bedrooms and the kitchen is also one of the two bathrooms. At the opposite end of the house is the second spacious bathroom with floor heating. The style of the bathrooms is through simple with white and black elements. Next to this bathroom is another bedroom with a comfortable double bed and access to the terrace.
Directly opposite the main house is a new annex, providing two additional beds. There are tiles on the floor and a good amount of light from both the glass garden doors and window in the ceiling.
Outdoor
The summer house is located close to Hou Strand surrounded by a beautiful garden, which is green and blooming in summer. Here you can be completely undisturbed, even though the house is located in a peaceful residential area. In front of the house is a good driveway, so it is easy to park the car.
The house has several garden doors, which makes it easy to connect indoors- with outdoor life. Around the house there are tiles and a total of 3 terraces where you can enjoy your meals in the garden furniture. By the house is also a gas barbecue, so you can prepare your meals outdoors, when the weather allows you to. The terrace in front of the living room is partially covered, but you can also make use of the awnings if you want more shelter or shade. The terraces also have sun loungers and a parasol, so you can enjoy many hours outdoors.
Location
The cottage is just 150 meters from a child-friendly sandy beach. The bathing water is of good quality and the water is often calm, so a swim here is a must. There is also a bathing jetty close to the house. The ferry port in Hou is buzzing with life in the summer as the ferries to Samsø and Tunø dock here. You can follow the ferry traffic the Kattegat without it interfering with your stay on the beach. If you want to visit Samsø or Tunø, it is easy to visit the islands and have a nice one-day trip.
In Hou you can do your grocery shopping at Dagli Brugsen, but you can also enjoy an ice cream at Mosters Ishus on the harbor and visit the swimming hall if the weather is not good for a swim in the sea. If you like hiking, you can take the 10-kilometre route from Hou along the Odder coast and back again. Both north and south of Odder, there are beautiful beaches and cosy summerhouse areas along the way.
Odder is only 9 kilometers from the house, and it is a larger town with several shopping facilities and a pleasant pedestrian street. If you want to go to a bigger city, Aarhus is easy to get to by the local railway from Odder or a 35-minute drive by car. In Aarhus there are many cultural offerings such as Aros Art Museum, the living museum Den Gamle By and Moesgaard Museum.
