Description
Indoors
There are very few summerhouses in Gudhjem, but in this one -you can live like a local in Denmark's only mountain village. The house is carefully decorated and furnished very personally - with beautiful patinated and fun curious finds. The Nordic/bohemian style is thoroughly implemented across the board. It offers a new well-stocked open kitchen /dining area with plenty of space. The living room is bright and inviting with a nice sitting and living room area with a wood burning stove and a TV. It extends from the dining area. From the kitchen-dining room there is access through 3 French doors, to the romantic paved and beautifully planted patio. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, walk-in wardrobe and a toilet. Here, the interior and decor are created in respect of the house's age and exciting history. The painter Richard Mortensen has, among other things. lived in the attic room upstairs when he was in Gudhjem.
Outdoor
The house has been on its spot since way before 1825. From the first floor you have a view to the Baltic Sea and to the city roofs. In the closed and sunny stone patio there is usually shelter from the wind , and the summer outdoor life can therefore start quite early. Among hollyhocks, roses and clematis stands one of Gudhjem's largest fig trees, from which you can pick the most beautiful ripe figs from the end of August. There is a basement carved directly into the rock, inside it is one of the, for Denmark, rare and sustainable geothermal heaters. In this private stone garden, the day can be rounded off in peace and quiet, with food from the gas grill or a glass wine in the soft lounge furniture. From the courtyard and garden, one can see the Baltic Sea. If the car is included, it can be parked in front of the house.
Location
Although the cottage is centrally located in the CENTER of Gudhjem town, it is still peacefully secluded from the unique Bokul-area . Here at the end of Holkadalen, (the only fissure valley that ends in a town) you can go for a beautiful walk up to Gråmyr, a lake with pink water lilies and a peaceful atmosphere. Nevertheless, the house is just a 3-5 minute walk from Gudhjem's many wonderful restaurants cozy and vibrant summer life on the harbor. From the harbor you can sail a trip with M / S Ertholm to Christiansø. Or with M / S Thor to Helligdomsklipperne, an incredibly beautiful trip where it is possible to leave tables at Helligdomsklipperne, and Bornholms Kunstmuseum. The Oluf Høst Museum at Norresân, which was his home and studio from 1929 to 1966, is definitely worth a visit. From Norresân you can also jump in from the timber raft "Atlanten" which is placed in the middle of the harbor every year. We wish you a really good holiday in one of the very few holiday homes in the unique Gudhjem City.
Funfact!
The house has been in both Vogue and the New York Times, and because of it’s location it’s probably one of the most photographed houses on Bornholm at all.
