Very close to the house is Nature Center Tønnisgård, which organizes family-friendly acti­vi­ties and exciting excur­sions that include shrimp catching, amber polishing, and oyster tours. Many of the tours provide great insight into the Wadden Sea, which is Denmark's largest national park and also holds a di­stingu­is­hed place on UNESCO's World Heritage List. Already on the drive from the mainland over the dam to Rømø, you can enjoy the sight of the Wadden Sea, and depending on the season, you may have the op­portu­ni­ty to see the huge flocks of migratory birds that stop in the open and mag­ni­fi­cent landscape.
