• Enjoy the local attractions and minimise the use of your car. For example, you can explore Northern Europe’s largest bird sanctuary, Tipperne, and the protected area of Værnengene.
• Put on your walking shoes and go exploring in the surrounding area. Enjoy nature in the area without the stressful hustle and bustle of everyday life. For instance, you can try out the local Heart trail.
• Rent gear and equipment at your holiday destination rather than buying it. A lot of equipment ends up sitting unused in a corner (for example, surf equipment can be rented from Westwind Bork Havn).
• Relax and wind down. Read a good book on the terrace, play with your kids or take a stroll along the water. The environment, your body, your family and your soul will benefit from it. Turn off your family’s screens and spend time together.
• Look for the Bathing Water Flag when you plan on going swimming. If a beach has a Bathing Water Flag, this means that the water quality is good.

Food and gastronomy

• Dine locally and buy local ingredients for your meals. Of course, don’t miss out on tasting the local specialties from West Jutland.
• Avoid food waste. For example, wait to order dessert or take more from the buffet until you know you can eat it all.
• If you can’t finish your food, you can take the leftovers home. Many places will give you a doggie bag.
• Eat a few more greens and a little less meat—it’s healthy for both you and the environment.
• Dine at restaurants that offer local and organic ingredients. For example, try Restaurant Gro in Varde, where organic dining and sustainability are high priorities.

Take good care of nature

• Sort your waste into the right containers so it can be recycled.
• Take care of nature. Avoid disturbing animals and plants, especially in the Natura 2000 areas, such as Ringkøbing Fjord and Skjern Å. See the map of Natura sites for an overview of the areas.

Getting around at your destination

• Leave your car behind and take a bike. The area around Ringkøbing Fjord offers a multitude of cycling tours with its many trails through the natural scenic landscape. If you don’t have a bicycle with you, you can rent one from us, Feriepartner Bork Havn.

• Remember your shopping bag. It is always a good idea to have a reusable bag with you when shopping to avoid plastic and save money.
