In the middle of Ærø, you will find the village of Tranderup. Tranderup is a charming little village oozing tranqui­li­ty and rural bliss. So you are within re­la­ti­ve­ly short distance of the well-known and pi­c­tu­resque sur­ro­un­dings of Skagen and the maritime history of Fre­de­riks­havn in the streets and alleys in the town.

Ertebølle is known for its hi­sto­ri­cal sig­ni­fi­can­ce and bre­ath­taking nature. The area offers a fa­sci­nat­ing look at the history of hunter-gatherers during the Stone Age. Visit the im­pres­si­ve Stone Age Centre Ertebølle where you can immerse yourself into the lives of ancient Stone Age people, who lived 7,000 years ago, through in­te­r­a­cti­ve ex­pe­ri­en­ces such as hunting, sailing and fl­int­k­nap­ping for Ertebølle Hoved, a unique cliff with layers of volcanic ash, is a testament to the di­stin­cti­ve ge­o­lo­gi­cal features of the area. The cliff offers excellent op­portu­ni­ties to find fossils and un­der­stand why this place is so special that it has become a candidate for the UNESCO World Heritage List.

On the east coast of Rømø is Kromose, right on the Wadden Sea. Here you can design a wonderful holiday amid some of Denmark’s most beautiful nature. Whether you enjoy quiet holidays in scenic sur­ro­un­dings or lots of acti­vi­ties, Kromose and the sur­ro­un­ding area is the place for you.
