Rønne is the first town you come to when you arrive on lovely Bornholm. Beautiful St Nicholas Church is majestically located in a protruding square upon entry to the harbour, welcoming visitors. The town centre is characterised by narrow cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, and cosy squares. It offers a rich commercial and cultural life, and you will find historic buildings, museums, local arts and crafts, galleries, and more. There is ample opportunity to explore the island’s excellent beaches in all directions. Head south to visit Boderne or wonderful Dueodde—one of Denmark’s best beaches.
On the northern tip of Langeland, you will find Hou. Hou is an extremely quiet area and here you are away from the hectic working day and can just sit back and enjoy the chirping of birds and the roar of the waves. With its coastline and luxuriant nature, Hou is the ideal holiday destination for those looking for nature outings and explorations. Here you can take long walks or jump on a bike and enjoy the fresh air. If you are interested in history, please visit Hou Lighthouse, a true landmark of the area, as it played an important role in ship navigation around the northern tip of the island back in the late 1800s.
Bønnerup Strand is a small fishing village on Djursland and a popular holiday destination. Here you will find a wide sandy beach with shallow waters - ideal for water sports for the adventurous, and clamshell hunting for the young ones. Among the locals, the beach is actually known as Djursland’s best, and of course it is also Blue Flag-certified. In the summertime, the town’s harbour is a well-known gathering place for locals and the area’s many holidaymakers, and there are activities for both young and old. At the harbour you will also find local shops and eateries.
As a quiet and idyllic haven, Lodberg Hede is located between Stadil Fjord, West Stadil Fjord and the North Sea, The environment around the fjords, with small natural harbours, jetties and fire pits creates a special atmosphere. Meanwhile, on the other side, you can hear the roar of the North Sea. The nature, which is made up of heaths, plantations, forest areas and dunes, is ideal for exploring on foot or by bike, but you can also seek out adventure at sea in a canoe or kayak. Finally, visit the atmospheric and charming summer town of Søndervig, just a stone’s throw away.
