Welcoming holiday homes in Denmark

Svendborg is known as the most beautiful market town of Southern Funen. Ori­gi­nal­ly an old seafaring town, it offers a really special maritime at­mosp­he­re with seaviews and a harbour en­viron­ment buzzing with life. The old seafaring town oozes historic charm. You ex­pe­ri­en­ce the history of Southern Funen up close by paying the Latin Quarter, the oldest part of Svendborg, a visit. In the Latin Quarter, you can visit an abundance of stores and small local shops and sample local de­li­ca­cies in the re­stau­rants and cafés of the area. Svendborg town centre is also the hub of various musical events all year round, creating life in the streets to a degree.

South of Aarhus you will find the holiday home area, Mariendal Strand. Near the area is the beach, which is sur­ro­un­ded by natural sur­ro­un­dings and has a cosy fire pit. Here you can enjoy views of Aarhus Bay while roasting mars­h­mal­lows over an open fire with your feet planted in the fine sand. If you like biking, you can cycle towards Aarhus to the forests of Moesgaard and Mar­se­lis­borg, which stretch all the way down to the coast. And when visiting this area, you might want to visit the Moesgaard Museum, which has several exhi­bi­tions of ar­cha­e­o­lo­gi­cal finds, including the Grauballe Man, who - probably - is the world’s most well-preserved bog body.

Øster Hurup offers a genuine holiday at­mosp­he­re. Here you have a child-friendly beach with ample op­portu­ni­ties for splashing around in water and sports acti­vi­ties such as kayaking, paddling and sailing. And if that was not enough, the town also has a cosy harbour where you can eat lunch, get ice cream or just enjoy the view. Espe­ci­al­ly in the summer, the area is buzzing with life when the townspe­op­le and ho­li­day­ma­kers meet at various events in the cosy streets and alleys. Here you have musical bits and car rallies, among other things, on the agenda. From Øster Hurup, you are also within short distance of Aalborg and Aarhus and here you can ex­pe­ri­en­ce the buzzing city life.

A stone’s throw from Denmark’s sout­her­n­most point sits Gedesby, which offers authentic village vibes and idyllic scenery. In and around the town you will find beautiful old houses, thatched farm­hou­ses and cosy green landsca­pes. The church, which dates back to the 1300s, is nestled in the centre of the town sur­ro­un­ded by the quaint main street and beautiful old mill. The area plays an important role in Denmark’s history so there is a lot of local folklore and tales to explore. The nature here is fantastic, with plan­ta­tions, hiking trails and forests – and not least Gedesby Beach, which stretches as far as the eye can see.
