A little inland, sur­ro­un­ded by tall trees and lush forest areas, you will find the quaint town of Houstrup. Helnæs is a genuine little gem in the South Funen Ar­chipela­go. The peninsula is connected to the mainland via a natural dam and it is close to both the port town of Assens and the market town of Faaborg. When driving across the dam to the small peninsula, you will feel embraced by the out­stan­ding nature. This is where you will find Bro­bak­ker­ne, a large em­bank­ment formed back in the Ice Age and in summer, it is covered with the finest summer flowers. You can also ex­pe­ri­en­ce the specta­cu­lar nature from the water. Jump in a kayak and explore the Little Belt.

Between the wildness of the North Sea and the calm waters of Ring­kø­bing Fjord, lies Haurvig. A gem for nature lovers that offers peace and quiet for con­tem­p­la­tion, immersion and re­flection. There are plenty of small nooks where you can fish un­dis­tur­bed, hidden jetties where you can relax and shut out the world, and lots of lovely trails through dunes, heaths and meadows. Enjoy your morning coffee on the terrace over­look­ing the dunes or go for a walk on the wide sandy beaches. In Haurvig, the calm at­mosp­he­re sets in im­me­di­a­te­ly, and stays that way.

South of Aarhus you will find the holiday home area, Mariendal Strand. Near the area is the beach, which is sur­ro­un­ded by natural sur­ro­un­dings and has a cosy fire pit. Here you can enjoy views of Aarhus Bay while roasting mars­h­mal­lows over an open fire with your feet planted in the fine sand. If you like biking, you can cycle towards Aarhus to the forests of Moesgaard and Mar­se­lis­borg, which stretch all the way down to the coast. And when visiting this area, you might want to visit the Moesgaard Museum, which has several exhi­bi­tions of ar­cha­e­o­lo­gi­cal finds, including the Grauballe Man, who - probably - is the world’s most well-preserved bog body.
