The area
Dunkær is not far away from the old maritime town Marstal and from Ærøskøbing, one of Denmark´s best-kept smalltowns. Ærøskøbing is one of the nicest places on Ærø with paved alleys, half-timbered houses and a lively atmosphere during summer with concerts and many restaurants. Right next to the idyllic harbour there is a nice and child-friendly beach. Marstal is Ærø´s southernmost town with a maritime atmosphere, small built-together houses and many shops and restaurants. Close to the town centre there is a nice harbour with ferry harbour and the Maritime Museum. On the small peninsula Eriks Hale just south of Marstal, you will find the most wunderful beach with small idyllic beach houses.
